Green onions (scallions) not growing?

I planted ~10 seeds of green onions in a pot. They sprouted high (~2-3 inches) but remained very thin. As a result, they are not standing up. Why?

They may have dampened off… which happens when a plant gets too much water then the part of the plant that meets the soil becomes thin and the plant will flop. Or perhaps they didn’t get enought sunlight? I had the same problems with green onions, I finally just whipped lots of seeds directly in the garden soil and they grew fine there. Good luck.
they are planted in bad dirt ,not enough water or sun,they need fertilized
They are not getting enough light. When a plant is deprived of all the light it needs it “stretches” and becomes thin and spindly. Put a grow light (or any light if you don’t have a grow light) down to 12″ above the plants. At this distance they should get enough light to slow their growth and make the stems thicker and sturdier. Then they will stand. As they grow move the light so it stays 12″ above the top of the plant. In 50 days you should be eating fresh scallions.
