I know this is a gardening question, but I tend to get more answers from the V&V section. These questions may make me sound stupid, but bare with me.

1.) When I plant an onion seed, does it produce 1 onion or many onions?
2.) Are my scallion seeds and my onion seeds the exact same thing?
3.) I have an onion in my cupboard that has several long stalks(?). If I plant it, will it produce another onion and/or onions?
3B) If so, do I plant the bulb in the ground and allow the stalks to protrude from the soil?

Is scallion and spring onion the same?? If its not, can anyone kindly explain how can I identify them?

I’m planning to make takoyaki (octopus balls) and I’m quite new to cooking.. I really don’t know the difference between…. different vegetable tthat may look alike,.please help,. thankx,. ^-^

If you plant a fully mature green onion, can you actually grow more onions?

Ok, so my mom put an old onion in a plastic bag, and sealed it, and put it in the fridge. After a few weeks, we checked on it, and it actually grew scallions!!!!!
So she’s wondering: If we actually plant a whole green onion (in soil, not a plastic bag), will it actually cause it to grow more onions?

I know that the green plant from garlic is edible because someone once told me to plant it and i got garlic chives. Now I put an onion in water. It grew roots, and after a week or two started growing something green. Is this a scallion? It doesn’t look like it. Is it edible? Please quote a source if you have one but your general knowledge is also ok!
