What besides green onions or scallions can you put in a jar of water and have them grow for you?

Thanks!
I meant grow so you can eat them. The green onions you just snipe off the top and eat them.

Sprouts were a good idea!

Yams, avocado seed, bean sprouts(once they sprout pour off the water). In fact if you can keep the water circulating (aerated with minerals) just about anything. All plants need is water minerals(which act as catalysts for photosynthesis) CO2.Because all a plant does is create sugars and starches in the process of fixating carbon
